The intelligence runs on the bus, not in a data centre.

Every vehicle carries an AI-capable MDVR with GPS, 4G, and WiFi built in — one unit, not a recorder plus a separate tracker plus a separate modem. Passenger counting, driver monitoring, collision warning, and blind-spot detection are all computed onboard, in real time, by the unit itself — the cloud receives results, not raw footage to analyse. That single design decision is what makes the rest of this stack work on Philippine roads.

Counting passengers is only half the value. A separate management dashboard — built for finance and internal audit rather than day-to-day dispatch — compares the passengers your sensors counted against the fares your ticketing system recorded, trip by trip and unit by unit.

Where the two figures diverge beyond normal tolerance, the trip is flagged and tiered by severity, so your team investigates the handful of trips that warrant it instead of auditing everything. Patterns build over time by route, by shift, and by vehicle. For most operators this is where the system pays for itself: recovered fare revenue is measurable in a way that operational efficiency rarely is.

The case for each system

Fair questions operators ask us. Here are the honest answers.

Nobody buys technology because it is modern. They buy it because something is costing them money, exposing them to risk, or making a decision impossible. These are the questions we get asked most — answered the way we would answer them in your office.

Passenger counting

Manual counts are not unreliable because your people are dishonest. They are unreliable because counting sixty boarding passengers while collecting fares and watching the door is not something a human does accurately. Put two conductors on the same trip and you get two different numbers, and neither can be checked afterwards. Our cameras are triggered by the door itself — the count starts the moment it opens and stops the moment it closes — so every count ties to an actual boarding event, and the same trip produces the same number every time it is reviewed.

Everything downstream rests on those numbers — how many units to dispatch, which trips to cut, what to report to the regulator, whether a route is worth keeping. If the foundation is an estimate, every decision built on it is a guess wearing a suit.

Do not take our word for it — run this on your own fleet. Say ten buses each carry 150 passengers a day at an average fare of ₱150. That is ₱22,500 per bus daily, or ₱225,000 moving through the fleet every single day. Now ask what happens if only 97% of it is ever remitted. A 3% gap is roughly ₱6,750 a day disappearing quietly across those ten buses — around ₱202,500 a month, on a fleet that size alone. You do not have to suspect anyone of anything to want that number measured instead of assumed. Most operators who run this arithmetic stop trusting their current numbers by the second line.

Four decisions change immediately, and operators tell us the first one pays for the system on its own.

Match units to demand. You find out which trips run near-empty and which leave passengers behind. Pulling one unnecessary trip a day saves fuel, driver cost, and wear. Adding one at the right hour captures fares you were handing to the operator behind you.

Fix the schedule against reality. Peak load by hour, direction, and day — not by what the timetable assumed when it was written years ago.

Negotiate with evidence. When you apply for a route, defend a franchise, or argue for a fare adjustment, verified ridership data is a different conversation from an operator's estimate.

Reconcile revenue. Passengers counted versus fares recorded, per trip. That comparison is impossible without a counter, and it is where most operators find the money.

Onboard cameras

Because without footage, every dispute becomes your word against theirs, and you usually lose.

A passenger claims they were injured boarding. A theft is reported on your unit. A complaint is filed against a driver. An accident happens and fault is contested. In each case the question is the same: what actually happened? Footage answers it in minutes. No footage means paying a claim you might not owe, or disciplining a driver who may have done nothing wrong.

There is also the deterrent effect, which does not show up in any report but shows up in your incident log. Behaviour changes when people can see they are recorded — passengers and crew alike.

And for modernised PUVs, cameras are not optional. DOTr requirements for modern units already include CCTV and dashcams alongside GPS. If you are heading toward compliance anyway, the question is not whether to install cameras but which ones.

No, and this is the part most operators are surprised by. The door cameras that count your passengers are the same cameras that secure your vehicle. One set of hardware, one installation, one wiring job.

You are not paying twice, drilling twice, or maintaining two systems from two suppliers who blame each other when something stops reporting. Add cabin cameras if you want interior coverage, and the channel count is specified per vehicle — some fleets run two counting cameras on the main doors only.

Framed honestly: if you were already considering CCTV, passenger counting comes with hardware you were going to buy anyway.

Fleet tracking

A phone tells you where the driver says he is. Tracking tells you where the vehicle is. Most of the time those agree, and the value is in the times they do not.

Unscheduled stops. Side trips. Trips logged as completed that were cut short. Vehicles moving after hours or on rest days. Route deviations that expose your franchise. None of these are visible through a phone call, and all of them cost money quietly and continuously.

There is a simpler benefit too. When a unit breaks down or is caught in traffic, your dispatcher sees it and reacts, instead of finding out when passengers start complaining at the terminal.

They serve different masters. A compliance device is built to satisfy the Board — it reports position to a government server so your franchise stays in order. That is its job, and it does it.

It was never designed to run your operation. It does not tell you occupancy, reconcile fares, score driver behaviour, alert your dispatcher, or produce the reports your management actually uses. Plenty of operators run both: the accredited device for regulatory reporting, and an operations platform for the decisions that make or lose money.

To be plain about our own position — InfraLinx is still working through accreditation, so if what you need is a franchise-compliant device today, that is not us yet. What we build is the layer on top.

Cost, risk and timing

Pricing depends on the channel count, the platform features, and the fleet size, so any figure quoted before we have looked at your vehicles would be invented. We will give you a real number after an assessment, not before.

What we will do is show you the payback arithmetic using your own operating figures rather than ours — passengers per unit, average fare, current remittance, fuel and driver cost per trip. If the recovered revenue and the trips you stop running unnecessarily do not cover the monthly cost, you should not buy it, and we would rather establish that in the first meeting than the sixth.

Installation happens at your garage, scheduled around your dispatch. Units go in during downtime between trips or overnight, vehicle by vehicle, so your service keeps running while the fleet is fitted progressively.

Our own technicians do the work — camera placement, recorder mounting, wiring, and calibration — and each unit is validated in live operating conditions before we call it done. Counting accuracy depends heavily on getting the camera geometry right for your specific vehicle type, which is exactly why we do not ship you a box and a manual.

Openly, and early. The operators who have the least trouble are the ones who tell their crew before installation what is being recorded and why — and who frame it accurately, because it is not only about catching people.

Footage protects drivers as often as it exposes them. A driver accused of an incident he did not cause has evidence. A conductor whose remittance is questioned has a passenger count backing him up. Safety alerts warn a tired driver before something happens.

There are also obligations here, not just tactics. Under the Data Privacy Act your crew must be informed that monitoring is in use, and passengers need clear signage that cameras are operating. We help you get that part right, because a system deployed without proper notice creates a different kind of problem.

You can, and for compliance hardware there is an argument for waiting until the requirement is firm. But waiting has a cost that does not appear on any invoice.

Every month without measurement is a month of decisions made on estimates, and a month of revenue leakage you cannot see because nothing is watching. That figure does not pause while you wait for a deadline.

The operators who move first also arrive at the regulatory deadline with the system already calibrated and their people already trained — rather than joining the queue when every fleet in the country is trying to install at once.

These are not current products, and we are not going to describe them as if they were. They are the direction we are building in, on top of the sensing and platform work already running on real buses.

Onboard ticketing hardware tied to the same counting and camera system already on the vehicle, so fare collection and passenger counts are reconciled by one platform instead of compared after the fact from two separate systems.

Cashless, automatic fare capture that reduces manual cash handling and gives a second verified revenue figure to check against the passenger count — the same reconciliation logic already running on the leakage calculator above, closed at the point of payment instead of after the fact.

Every system on this page points at the same place. Once buses report position and occupancy continuously, that information does not have to stay inside the operator's office — it can reach the person standing at the terminal deciding whether to wait.

We are building a passenger information application on top of the fleet data we already collect: which bus is coming, when it arrives, and how full it is when it gets there.
